Outline

The International Passenger Terminal, situated on the southern bank of the River IJ in Amsterdam, serves as a significant point of urban development, linking the historical town center with the modern IJ-burg area through a master plan divided into five distinct compartments.

Each compartment offers unique accommodation facilities, emphasizing a unified architectural concept characterized by a continuous wall along the IJ side with individual, plinth-mounted structures in front.

This layout aims to maintain a coherent urban aesthetic while accommodating various architectural projects. Compartment A, the first to be developed, reflects a significant shift as the Amsterdam port authorities moved their operations to a new, purpose-built terminal, catering to the increasing demands of tourism.
